The Human Factors and Ergonomics Society, founded in 1957m is the world’s largest scientific association for human factors/ergonomics professionals.

HFES provides education, builds connections, and advocates on behalf of human factors/ergonomics field from students to researchers, and industry practitioners-and fosters collaboration across the spectrum of professionals to drive forward advances inhuman factors and ergonomics because HFES believes that the seamless connection between humans and systems, and the connection between research and application, is vital to keeping all human beings safe.

Human Factors

“Human factors [and ergonomics] is the study of how humans behave physically and psychologically in relation to particular environments, products, or services” (SearchSOA.com).

Human factors is an umbrella term for several areas of research that include human performance, technology design, and human-computer interaction. The study of human factors in the Human Factors Research and Technology Division at NASA Ames Research Center focuses on the need for safe, efficient and cost-effective operations, maintenance and training, both in flight and on the ground.- As defined by NASA
